07 KUMI SUGAI


Kumi Sugai was a Japanese painter and printmaker, born 1919.
He was heavily influenced by typography, calligraphy and traditional woodblock printing techniques.
After moving to Paris in 1952 he began producing prints that would establish him as a Japanese artist of international renown. He was part of the School of Paris and New Realism movements, later developing a more geometric and abstract style.
