08 Spike Lee Double Dolly

A visual signature that appears in many of Spike Lee’s films is what has become known as the double dolly shot. Achieved by putting both the camera and the actor on dollies, the effect makes characters seem as if they are floating rather than walking. This technique appears to separate the characters from their surroundings, often conveying an inner turmoil.
